Thanks for your participation last night, we were joined by four new members who heard about our group at the NZAP conference over the weekend. Although tired after a weekend on Zoom, it was still so good to have our climate group to report back to after I spoke and Virginia chaired the panel “Imagining a Future for Psychotherapy in Aotearoa”. I invited psychotherapists present to speak out against inaction on social injustice and climate, and gave an explanation of climate complacency derived from Donna Orange’s clear thinking and brilliant book, Climate Crisis, Psychoanalysis and Radical Ethics.

Rick asked me to post this article about Angus Rose hunger striking and prepared to die, godforbid, to have all MPs hear the ‘road to Damascus’ briefing that woke Boris Johnston up to the dire straits of the climate crisis before COP26.

Virginia mentioned an article about individual actions that research has shown would make a difference. If we all learned to sacrifice at a useful level, this is what it would look like.
